About the role

Chubb is a world leader in insurance. With operations in 54 countries, Chubb provides commercial and personal property and casualty insurance, personal accident and supplemental health insurance, reinsurance and life insurance to a diverse group of clients. The KEY OBJECTIVE is to investigate, assess, reserve and resolve Property Claims Nationally utilizing Independent Adjusters while adhering to Chubb’s High Service Standards, with focus on Commercial Claims

Responsibilities

  • Analyze first notice of loss to determine nature of claim, coverage provided and scope of damage
  • Conduct detailed investigations commensurate with claim complexity, through the utilization of Independent Adjusters
  • Comfortable critically reviewing Independent Adjuster, Contractor, Building Consultant other technical expert reports in the context of complex claim evaluations
  • Ability to analyze Commercial Property Policy contracts to determine applicable coverage
  • Comfortable learning specialty Commercial segments including Green Energy, Mining, Equipment Breakdown, Transit and Mortgage Impairment type losses
  • Establish accurate and timely reserves within authority
  • Maintain an active diary and monitor claim inventory to ensure pro-active disposition of the claims
  • Exercise good judgment in reaching final disposition of claims by evaluating nature of loss, liability, injury/damage, coverage, salvage and subrogation opportunities in adherence with Chubb Claim Handling Best Practices
  • Achieve open to closed inventory ratio of 1 to 1 or better
  • Pro-active communication with critical stakeholders including Claims Management, Underwriting and Broker Partners
  • Close collaboration and oversight of Independent Adjusters to ensure timely investigations and reporting, promoting a seamless client experience
  • Effectively control the use, work product and expenses of outside vendors
  • Available to assist with CAT Duty in the event of major industry events
  • Adhere to Chubb Claim Handling Best Practice

Requirements

  • Completion of University degree / College diploma, and/or equivalent insurance-related education and experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a critical component of this role
  • Minimum 5 years of prior complex claim handling experience in property
  • CIP designation or a willingness to take CIP courses through the Insurance Institute an asset
  • Superior customer service and negotiation skills
  • Good knowledge of the insurance business, knowledge of insurance contracts, and legal requirements and regulations
  • Excellent time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills required
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • A demonstrated ability to affect positive change when a need is identified
  • Bilingualism in English and French would be an asset with openness to pursue full adjuster certification with the AMF (Autorité des Marchés Financiers) in the Province of Quebec
